Research Interests:

High-performance computing and special-purpose computing architectures; development and deployment of next-generation HPC systems based on computational accelerators; and design and implementation of scientific applications on such systems.

Volodymyr Kindratenko is a Senior Research Scientist at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) and a Visiting Lecturer in the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). Prior to joining NCSA, he received the D.Sc. degree from the University of Antwerp (UIA), Belgium, in 1997, and the Specialist degree from the Vynnychenko State Pedagogical University (KDPU), Kirovograd, Ukraine, in 1993.

Research Interests:

Developing standards for parallel computing that can be efficiently and widely implemented, namely the Message Passing Interface (MPI) standard and a freely-available implementation of the MPI standard, MPICH; developing tools to understand and improve the performance and correctness of parallel programs; and innovative methods for parallelism that will match radical changes in computer architecture.

William Gropp received his B.S. in Mathematics from Case Western Reserve University in 1977, a MS in Physics from the University of Washington in 1978, and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Stanford in 1982.
